Lecturer in Computing
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lecturer in Computing to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, research, and administrative duties within the Computing department. The Lecturer will contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Computing, conduct research in their area of expertise, and engage in departmental and university-wide service.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
1. Deliver high-quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students in Computing, including lectures, tutorials, and project supervision.
2. Develop and update course materials, including syllabi, lecture notes, and assignments.
3. Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback.
4. Contribute to the development and implementation of new programs and courses in Computing.
Research and Scholarship:
1. Conduct research in Computing, publishing research papers and securing research funding.
2. Collaborate with colleagues and external partners on research projects.
3. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and dissertations.
4. Contribute to the development of the department’s research strategy.
Administrative and Service Duties:
1. Participate in departmental administrative tasks, such as curriculum development, student advising, and committee service.
2. Contribute to the management of the department, including attending departmental meetings and participating in decision-making processes.
3. Engage in university-wide service, including serving on university committees and participating in university events.
Requirements:
Qualifications
1. PhD in Computing or a related field.
2. Relevant teaching experience in Computing.
Skills and Knowledge
1. Expertise in one or more areas of Computing, such as artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, or software engineering.
2. Strong knowledge of programming languages, data structures, and algorithms.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
Experience
1. Proven teaching experience in Computing.
2. A strong research track record in Computing.
3. Experience in supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and dissertations.
Desired Qualifications:
Industry Experience
1. Relevant industry experience in Computing.
2. Experience in working with industry partners on research projects.
Leadership Experience
1. Experience in leading research teams or projects.
2. Experience in managing departmental or university-wide initiatives.
Funding Experience
1. Experience in securing research funding.
2. Experience in managing research grants and contracts.
