Associate Professor Education
Job Summary:
The Associate Professor in Education is responsible for advancing the academic excellence of the department by delivering high-quality teaching, conducting significant research, and contributing to the academic leadership of the institution. This position involves mentoring junior faculty, contributing to curriculum development, and fostering a collaborative learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong research background, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to advancing the field of education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching and Instruction: Teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in education, including areas such as educational theory, pedagogy, curriculum design, educational leadership, and policy. Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical sessions that engage students and promote critical thinking.
- Curriculum Development: Contribute to the design and development of course content, syllabi, and assessments, ensuring they reflect the latest research, educational practices, and trends in the field of education.
- Research and Scholarship: Conduct original research in education, focusing on areas such as educational policy, leadership, special education, curriculum development, or teaching methods. Publish research in peer-reviewed journals, books, and academic conferences. Seek funding for research projects.
- Student Mentorship and Supervision: Provide academic guidance to students, including advising on research projects, theses, and dissertations. Mentor graduate students and junior faculty members, fostering their academic and professional development.
- Service and Leadership: Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and institutional initiatives. Take a leadership role in curriculum development, program reviews, and accreditation processes. Collaborate with colleagues on research and departmental goals.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and evaluate assessments to measure student learning outcomes. Provide timely feedback on student work and help students improve their academic performance.
- Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with developments in the field of education, research methodologies, and teaching strategies. Participate in academic conferences and workshops.
- Community Engagement: Represent the department and university in professional associations, conferences, and public outreach activities. Contribute to the development of educational policies and practices through engagement with the broader community.
Qualifications:
- Education: A PhD in Education or a closely related field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in higher education, with a record of successful teaching and research. Proven leadership experience and a track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Skills:
- Strong expertise in educational theory, research, and practice.
- Ability to engage and inspire students, fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
- Experience with research funding, grant writing, and securing external funding for projects.
- Strong publication record in reputable academic journals or conferences.
- Leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide junior faculty and graduate students.
- Proficiency in using learning management systems and educational technologies.
