Education Counselor
Job Summary:
An Education Counselor provides guidance and support to students, parents, and educators to promote academic success, personal growth, and career development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Academic Advising: Help students choose courses, plan academic paths, and set goals.
2. Career Guidance: Assist students in exploring career options, creating career plans, and developing job search skills.
3. Personal Counseling: Provide support for students’ social, emotional, and personal concerns.
4. Assessment and Evaluation: Administer and interpret assessments to identify students’ strengths and areas for improvement.
5. Parent and Teacher Collaboration: Communicate with parents and teachers to ensure student support.
6. College and Financial Aid Planning: Guide students through college and financial aid application processes.
7. Program Development: Design and implement educational programs and workshops.
8. Crisis Intervention: Respond to student crises, such as mental health concerns or academic emergencies.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in School Counseling, Education, or related field.
2. Certification/Licensure (e.g., LPC, LCPC, NCC).
3. Experience in education counseling or related field.
4. Strong communication, interpersonal, and listening skills.
5. Ability to work with diverse populations.
6. Knowledge of academic and career development theories.
7. Familiarity with educational technology and resources.
