Mandarin Teacher
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Mandarin Chinese Teacher to join our team and support the development of students’ language proficiency, cultural understanding, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a native or near-native Mandarin speaker with a strong background in language education and the ability to inspire students at various proficiency levels.
This role involves delivering high-quality instruction, designing culturally rich lessons, assessing student progress, and integrating modern teaching methodologies. Whether teaching in-person or virtually, the Mandarin teacher will play a key role in promoting language acquisition and cross-cultural understanding.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Language Instruction & Lesson Delivery

Teach Mandarin Chinese to students across different proficiency levels (Beginner to Advanced).

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and student-centered lessons that cover speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and cultural topics.

Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning styles and needs.

Integrate real-life communication scenarios and authentic materials into lessons.
2. Curriculum & Materials Development

Develop and update lesson plans and instructional materials in alignment with the program’s curriculum goals.

Use a variety of teaching aids and technologies to enhance learning, including multimedia resources, games, apps, and interactive activities.

Collaborate with fellow educators to align teaching strategies, content, and assessments.
3. Assessment & Progress Monitoring

Design quizzes, oral presentations, exams, and other assessment tools to monitor and evaluate student progress.

Provide regular feedback and support to help students set goals and improve their language skills.

Maintain accurate and detailed records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
4. Cultural Enrichment

Introduce students to Chinese culture, traditions, history, festivals, and customs to enhance their global awareness.

Organize cultural activities, field trips, or virtual exchanges to enrich classroom learning and promote cultural appreciation.

Encourage students to explore real-world applications of Mandarin.
5. Communication & Collaboration

Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom activities.

Attend faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities.

Participate in school events, open houses, or language fairs as a representative of the Mandarin program.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language, Education, Linguistics, or related field.

Teaching certification or license in Chinese language instruction (e.g., CTCSOL, state license, or equivalent).

Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (native or near-native fluency).

Fluent in English for communication with staff, parents, and students as needed.

At least 1–3 years of teaching experience in a formal classroom or virtual setting.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Education, Applied Linguistics, or related discipline.

Experience teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (CFL) or Second Language (CSL).

Familiarity with internationally recognized proficiency frameworks (e.g., HSK, YCT, ACTFL).

Experience working in multicultural or international educational environments.

Ability to teach simplified and/or traditional characters depending on student needs.
